Vagabond
Tim Curry’s eagerly awaited memoir Vagabond is a very frank (N. Furter?) look at the lengthy career to date of an actor who acted on stage and in film. On top of all that, he’s released 4 solo albums and voiced characters in hundreds of episodes of cartoons and several video games to boot. Although he tends to focus on the films he’s best known for (the chapters on Clue, Legend, Muppet Treasure Island, and Rocky Horror Picture Show contain scads of stories), there’s loads of information on his childhood and theatrical work to make this book to make you shiver with antici........pation.
Right off the top, Curry notes he’s not going to go into his sexual preferences or any details of his past romantic relationships. That being said, he’s quite candid about everything else including drug use in his younger days and blunt descriptors of actors that didn’t pass the mustard. At times, Vagabond is a bit wistful, but Curry’s keen humor always sees him through in the end.
Given that Tim Curry has 244 credits on the Internet Movie Database, one wishes there might have been a focus on some of his less mainstream work, but perhaps we’ll get that in a second volume someday. There’s so many wildly different roles Curry has acted in throughout the course of his life that one memoir hardly seems like enough.
A snappy, and often quite funny, look at the ups and downs of an actor’s life, Tim Curry ‘s memoir Vagabond is a sharp look at what can only be described as a singular career.
A copy of Vagabond was provided for review by NetGalley. Vagabond is set for an October 14, 2025 release and is available for pre-order in hardcover and on Audible and CD. It should be noted Tim Curry reads the audio version as well!
